Guests visiting Disney World’s Animal Kingdom will now have the chance to see Bakso, the park’s new Sumatran tiger cub.
Bakso, who was born back in September, this week made his ‘debut’ in the Maharajah Jungle Trek habitat - he will come and go to the public habitat, as he pleases - so guests visiting Animal Kingdom will now have a chance to see him.
You may have already seen Bakso on Youtube, via Disney Parks web series Tiger TV Tuesdays - and if you haven’t yet it is a great chance to watch the tiger cub's early development.
Disney, in a press statement, highlighted the “unwavering commitment of the animal care experts” that have helped care for the cub.
“Their passion for this tiny tiger is inspiring, and a true testament to the incredible care given to all animals in the park. Bakso is a beacon of hope for this dwindling species,” Disney said.
“With less than 600 Sumatran tigers left in the wild and in managed care, Bakso is just one example of Disney’s work with the Association of Zoos and Aquariums (AZA) that has helped strengthen the critically endangered Sumatran tiger population and the genetics of the species worldwide.”
The media company and theme park operator added that the Disney Conservation Fund has provided support to 15 organizations working with communities to protect tigers and their habitats since 1995.
