Fort Wilderness Resort & Campsites: How to get to the parks

1 min read

Disney’s Fort Wilderness Resort & Campground is a bit of adventure in itself, nevertheless, the cabins, RV parking and campgrounds are far from remote and are still convenient for access to Disneyworld’s theme parks.

Except for having to go a bit further to get to the resort’s main transport hub (although a golf cart can make short work of that), Fort Wilderness Resort & Campground has very similar transport options as several other hotel destinations at Disneyworld.

Whether you prefer a boat ride, a bus, or even a scenic stroll, here’s what you need to know about getting from your cabin or campsite to Disney’s world-famous theme parks.

Hop on a boat

The nearest theme park to Fort Wilderness is Magic Kingdom, and the best way to get there is by taking the complimentary boat service.

The boat departs from the Fort Wilderness marina every 10 to 20 minutes, and the trip itself takes about 15 minutes.

Many guests say it’s a fantastic way to start a park day, afloat with stunning views and photo opportunities.

Bus services

The boat is great, but you can also take the bus to Magic Kingdom.

Busses also fetch guests to and from EPCOT, Disney’s Hollywood Studios, Animal Kingdom, and Disney Springs.

The buses run frequently, about every 20 minutes, and take you directly to the park.

Travel times vary, but you can expect to reach EPCOT in around 15 minutes and Hollywood Studios or Animal Kingdom in about 20 to 25 minutes.

Can You Walk to the Parks?

Fort Wilderness has a wonderful view of Magic Kingdom, but it’s not quite close enough to walk safely - so, it is not advised to go by foot.

Take a golf cart!

The Campsites at Fort Wilderness span some 750 acres, so whichever of the resort’s four camping areas your pitched up in, there’s good reason why many guests choose to hire a golf cart to travel around the resort.
