How to get to Disney World’s Wilderness Lodge on your travel day

2 min read

As one of Disney World’s deluxe resorts the Wilderness Lodge is well-connected and straightforward to get to.

Whether you're flying in, taking a train, or driving, with a little bit of preparation you can plan a travel day that’ll be relatively stress-free.

Here, we take a look at some of the popular methods of travelling to Disney World’s Wilderness Lodge.

Flying in

If you’re flying in, the closest airport to Disney’s Wilderness Lodge is Orlando International Airport (MCO), which is approximately a 25-30 minute drive away, depending on traffic.

For those using a ride-share service like Uber or Lyft, the fare is typically around $30 to $40, depending on the time of day and demand in the area at that time. This is generally an affordable and convenient option for couples and smaller families alike, but for larger groups it may prove more challenging.

A private airport transfer would typically cost between $100 and $200 depending on the type and size of the vehicle you need.

Travelling with a coach transfer, meanwhile, may be cheaper depending upon the size of your group - with single each-way journeys priced at around $16 per person.

For those flying into Orlando Sanford International Airport, it’s a bit further at about 33 miles, with an estimated transfer time of around 45 minutes by car. An Uber from here will cost approximately $60 to $85.

Travelling by train

If you’re arriving by train, the nearest station is Amtrak’s Orlando Station, located about 12 miles from the resort. The transfer time from the station to Disney World’s Wilderness Lodge is roughly 20 minutes by car.

A recent addition to guests’ travel options is Florida's Brightline rail service is a high-speed rail line connecting the Orlando International Airport (MCO) with other major cities in Florida, particularly Miami, Fort Lauderdale, and West Palm Beach.

So this may allow more flexibility if your plans see you flying into another Florida airport, or if you’re planning a split-stay trip.

There are no complimentary shuttle services from the train station to the Disney resorts, but all the usual transfer options are available.

Driving to Disney’s Wilderness Lodge

For those who prefer to drive, Disney World’s Wilderness Lodge is easily accessible by car.

The resort is well-connected to major highways, including Interstate 4 (I-4), which links many parts of Florida, and brings you directly into the Disney area.

Guests can park on-site, and it is complimentary for hotel guests during their stay.

Once parked, guests can leave the car in the resort car park and make use of Disney’s internal shuttle system to get around the parks without needing their car.
