Disneyland Paris has brought some fresh magic to one of its most beloved attractions, "It’s a Small World."
The iconic boat ride reopened at Disneyland Paris this weekend after a few weeks of maintenance that, among other things, saw an outfit change for many of its characters.
From February onwards, guests will now be treated to a dazzling display of new costumes and hairstyles, after the update brought “a fresh glow” whilst keeping in with the ride’s classic and original charm.

For the maintenance project, Walt Disney Imagineering Paris and Creative Costuming teams painstakingly recreated the attraction’s original 1992 costumes - using photographs from the park archives to ensure that every detail was right.
The update is not just about restoration; it’s about honouring cultural heritage, the Paris park has highlighted, with the costumes reflecting traditional, folk, and ethnic clothing from around the world, celebrating the diversity and unity that “It’s a Small World” represents.

Behind the costumes
Bringing this vision to life took two years of research and one year of dressmaking, Disneyland Paris noted in a statement.
The team of 13 dressmakers, wigmakers, and milliners handcrafted 60 new costumes.

They had to ensure that the costumes were highly durable too, as the ride operates all year round and is a ‘must-see’ high guest capacity attraction.
More work is to be done though with the team planning to update more figures over time.
