The Wizarding World of Harry Potter is easily the most British thing in Universal Orlando’s premier theme parks.
After all, the Universal Studios park is home to its very own King Cross train station and traditional red phone box - and, in the restaurants, guests can even enjoy fish and chips, ‘toad in the hole’ or even a shepherd’s pie.
So, maybe it will be a tad odd when guests finally descend upon the UK’s very own Universal Theme park, that Harry Potter will be notably absent.
It’s because the rights holder, Warner Bros, already has Harry Potter attractions in the UK, like the Making of Harry Potter Studio Tour nearby, on the outskirts of Watford.
There’s still the possibility that a deal could be done to bring the Wizarding World to the Universal UK park, but, according to reports by the BBC, this is not likely until later, if potential expansions are built further in the future.
Reports and rumours, meanwhile, point to more classic British IP for some of the park’s planned attractions such as Paddington and James Bond.
Lord of the Rings, written in Oxford by JRR Tolkien, is also among the potential inclusions in the park’s theming - as well as some stalwart Universal theme park IP like Jurassic Park, Back to the Future and Minions.
These are all among the names being linked to the park online and in the media, including the BBC report that cited ‘sources close to the project’.
Like other popular parks, the UK park is expected to be centred by a lake, circled by ‘hub and spoke’ themed lands.
Such reports will have to be confirmed nearer the time, so theme park guests can keep their eyes peeled.
Construction is believed to be slated to start as soon as 2026, subject to planning permission, with the park scheduled to open in 2031.
