As Contemporary Resort is the closest hotel to Magic Kingdom, which is only a short walk away, heading to the park would be the obvious thing for a guest to do - nevertheless, there’s still lots going on at the resort too.
So, when it is time to take a break from the theme parks and have a resort day, what’s to do at Disney World’s Contemporary Resort?

Pools and cabanas
The deluxe Disney World resort has one of the ultimate luxuries, heated pools that mean the water is good for swimming all year round!
Contemporary has two pools - the main pool features a sandy beach, a water slide, a hot tub, pool bar and a fun, lively atmosphere.
Guests can upgrade their pool day by renting a private cabana - they come with a their own tv, music player, mini-fridge and, a waiter service for snacks and refreshments from the poolside bar.
The other pool, the ‘Bay Lake Pool’, is more relaxed and tranquil. It is not an adults-only pool, but a quieter vibe is encouraged.
As is typical with Disney World resort pools they both host complimentary towels and float vests, if needed.
Games
The Game Station, on the fourth floor of the Contemporary resort’s main building, is the hotel’s video games arcade. It is home to a mix of classic and modern games, and the game credit system uses a gamer card.
Kids will have a blast at the resort’s Game Station, an exciting arcade filled with thrilling video games and activities.
Sports and recreation
Guests who want to be active during their stay at Contemporary Resort there’s plenty of activities to choose from.
First, and most obvious, is the resort’s gym and fitness centre.
Besides the gym, the resort has a jogging (or walking) track the runs to about one mile and takes in views across Disney World’s Bay Lake.
Alternatively, guests can take to the lake themselves by hiring a boat, or sign up for one of Disney World’s guided fishing trips which leave from Contemporary’s marina.
For sports, the resort has a volleyball court on the sand and also a basketball court.
Evenings at the resort
At The Contemporary, the activities don’t stop at night.
Guests can gather by the campfire to toast marshmallows and s’mores - the fire is located near the beach and Bay Lake Tower.

For those staying at the Contemporary, there are two other nightly highlights.
Disney World’s Electrical Water Pageant is a must not miss attraction during your stay at the Contemporary - it is a popular parade of illuminated floats that each night pass by the Polynesian Village, Grand Floridian, Contemporary, Fort Wilderness and Fort Wilderness Resort.
Guests staying at the Contemporary have the extra perk, being so close to Magic Kingdom, is watching the theme park’s fireworks show. It is an ideal opportunity to pick out your preferred vantage point, grab some refreshments and enjoy.
Even better, if you’re fortunate enough to have a view, guests can watch the fireworks show from the comfort of their rooms.
