Top things to do during your stay at the Alton Towers Hotel

2 min read

Alton Towers Resort has grown and developed over the years, and, most certainly it is home to more than the UK’s top rollercoasters - guests who choose to extend their trip, booking a short break at Alton Towers Hotel will find lots to do.

Besides the major theme park on its doorstep, the Alton Towers hotel provides an array or activities and entertainment for guests.

Here, we take a look at some of the most popular things for guest to do during their stay.

The waterpark

The Alton Towers Waterpark, located within the resort grounds, is one of Europe’s biggest indoor (and, in summer, outdoor) waterparks.

From relaxing lazy rivers, relaxing lagoon, and fun family pools, to its more white-knuckle slides and water-coaster, the waterpark has something for guests of all ages.

Outdoors, the hot-springs-inspired Bubbly Wubbly Pool is a particularly popular attraction.

The water park’s Calypso Cave is a food and drink spot that serves up staples and family favourites like burgers and chicken tenders, as well as snacks, drinks and ice creams.

Entry to the waterpark isn’t included in the regular room rate at Alton Towers Hotel - though it is recommended guests keep an eye on the resort’s website for offers, as packages are sometimes available with a hotel stay, park tickets and waterpark admission.

Games and arcades

The Alton Towers Hotel has its own games room and arcade, whilst the Splash Landing Hotel next door has one too, and both are accessible to overnight guests.

From classic arcade fare, including ‘grabbers’ and penny-sliders, the arcades also feature more modern video games. It is certainly a spot that will keep the kids well entertained.

As with any arcade, theses games and machines are pay-per-play.

Guests with smaller children may, alternatively be better suited to the CBeebies Land Hotel’s interactive play areas designed for smaller children and infants.

Extraordinary Golf

Extraordinary Golf is pretty much as it sounds. It is a 9-hole ‘wacky’ golf course inspired by some of Alton Towers iconic theme park rides.

The course is located right next to the Splash Landing Hotel, itself adjacent to the Alton Towers Hotel.

Like the water park, Extraordinary Golf is not included in regular hotel ticketing and has to be booked separately, unless booked as part of a deal.

Night-Time Entertainment

The Alton Towers Hotel is very well themed throughout, though it is at night that it really comes alive - thanks to its entertainment staff.

Guests are treated to live shows, magic performances, singing and even a disco.

Entertainment is laid on in both the Alton Towers Hotel and the Splash Landing Hotel next door.

Thoughts …

Whether it’s fun in the water, games in the arcade, or a round of putting there’s something for every family to spend some quality time together.

And that’s before taking in the nighttime entertainments.

The Alton Towers Resort hotels offer much more than simply being a bolt-hole for theme park trips.
