Coronado Springs Resort is a unique Disney World resort, in that fancier than the rest of the others in the moderate category whilst being cheaper than the hotels in the deluxe bracket.
In reality, it's closer to being two distinct resorts with the buildings around the lake providing rooms well suited to families and groups, and the newer Grand Destino Tower hosting more luxurious rooms that a popular with both park-going guests as well as business travellers attending Coronado’s on-site conference centre.
Simply, there’s plenty of choice for guests regardless of their preferred style and budget.
Here, we take a closer look at the room options at Disney’s Coronado Springs.
Standard, water view or preferred rooms
The standard rooms at Coronado Springs are perfect for families and couples seeking comfort and convenience.
These rooms come with either two queen beds or one king bed, and can sleep up to four guests.
Families with infants can request cribs, making it easy to accommodate young children.
Standard rooms come with a courtyard or garden view, or overlook the parking area to the rear of resort.
Water view rooms, meanwhile, face either the lake at the centre of the resort, or one of the resort’s four swimming pools.
For guests who want to stay closer to resort amenities - especially the food hall, restaurants and shop which are at the front of the resort - it would be recommended to upgrade to a ‘preferred’ room type which are more conveniently located.
Walking distance is probably the most often cited drawback of the resort, which compared to some of the smaller Disney World resorts, does sprawl. Room blocks not on the inner loop closest to the lake will find themselves a bit of separation from the food outlets and amenities.
There’s five bus stops at this resort, so its also recommended that guests pay attention to the route, and make the effort of logging room requests with the front-desk before your arrival day.
Grand Destino Tower
For a somewhat more luxurious experience, guests may consider booking a room at the Grand Destino Tower.
This newer and sleeker part of Coronado Springs opened in 2019. It comprises 545 guest rooms, including 50 suites, as well as restaurants, bars, and vast lobby.
The tower is inspired by the art of Spain’s Salvador Dalí, and it creates a striking atmosphere and ambience.
In Grand Destino, the standard rooms are similar in layout to those in the rest of the resort but the decor has a more modern feel (albeit the rest of the resort was quite recently refurbished too). Some of the in-room amenities also add to the ‘upgraded’ feel of the rooms.
The views from Grand Destino Tower rooms are spectacular, with options overlooking the lake (Lago Dorado), the courtyard, and even as far as Hollywood Studios for a glimpse of the fireworks at night.
For those craving extra space, the Grand Destino Tower Suites provide separate living areas with sofa beds and an extra sense of luxury.
Bathrooms and amenities
All accommodations have en-suite bathrooms stocked with complimentary toiletries and most have a double vanity to make getting ready in a group much easier, especially for families.
Both room types have mini-fridges for storing snacks and drinks, but no rooms at Coronado Springs have full kitchenette facilities.
Guests staying in either the main resort or the Grand Destino Tower have full access to all of Coronado Springs’ pools, restaurants, and recreational activities.
But, staying in the Tower gives you easier access to Toledo – Tapas, Steak & Seafood and the stylish Dahlia Lounge, which are located on the building’s top floors.
Laundry, cleaning, check-in/check-out
Laundry services are available throughout the resort, and daily room cleaning is offered in both the standard and tower rooms.
Check-in starts at 3:00 PM, and check-out is at 11:00 AM, but you can enquire whether a late check-out is available.
Lake or tower?
In short, if you’re after a more traditional Disney resort experience with easy access to pools and dining, the Coronado Springs rooms are a solid, and more affordable choice.
But, if you want to elevate your experience with more stylised decor, upgraded amenities, and fantastic views, the Grand Destino Tower offers a touch of luxury while still keeping guests close to all the resort’s fun activities.
